2007 Distinguished Engineering Alumni: Michael H. Ott and Rick Roberts

The Distinguished Engineering Alumni award "recognizes Purdue engineers who combine technological know-how with creative vision." Mr. Ott and Mr. Roberts will be honored during the DEA convocation on February 23.

Michael H. Ott received his BSChE in 1974, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1980. Mr. Ott became the President and Chief Executive Officer of Polysciences, Inc. in 1993. At that time he also purchased the company from its founder, Dr. David Halpern. Mr. Ott was named an Outstanding Chemical Engineer in 2002 and is a member of the ChE Capital Campaign Committee.

 

Rick Roberts received his BSChE in 1976. In 1980, he earned an MBA from Pepperdine University. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas. Mr. Roberts has a key role in maintaining and upgrading Chevron Phillips Chemical's U.S. asset portfolio. Mr. Roberts was named an Outstanding Chemical Engineer in 2004, and he is a member of the ChE New Directions Industrial Advisory Board executive committee.
