Dr. Sangtae Kim, Jay and Cynthia Ihlenfeld Head of Chemical Engineering and Distinguished Professor, and Dr. Jan-Anders Mansson, Distinguished Professor of Materials and Chemical Engineering, were honored at the annual Distinguished and Named Professorship Ceremony on October 6 in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall.

Surya Mallapragada (PhD'97) and Antonios Mikos (MS'86, PhD'88) have been elected as Fellows in the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE). This honor is presented in recognition of distinguished contributions to and leadership in the field of medical and biological engineering in an international level. Formal induction will take place at the 2018 World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering in Prague, Czech Republic.

The National Science Foundation has chosen Purdue University to lead an engineering research center, which will develop new technologies to produce fuels from U.S. shale-gas deposits that could inject $20 billion annually into the economy.

Dr. Doraiswami Ramkrishna, the Harry Creighton Peffer Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, has been selected as the 2017-2018 Balwant S. Joshi Distinguished Visiting Professor by Mumbai University, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT).

Davidson School of Chemical Engineering presented two of its distinguished alumni with the 2017 Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award. David H. Li (BSChE '95) and William C. Nelson (BSChE '74, MSChE '75) were honored at a banquet on Thursday, September 7.
