Professor Kumares C. Sinha, Olson Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University, published an article titled “Reflections on the History of the ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering” in the Journal of Transportation Engineering (JTE) that was recognized as the Editors' Choice.

In the article, Professor Sinha not only looked back into the past to highlight key watermarks in the evolution of the journal over the past ten decades or more, but also identified future directions. He argued that serious consideration should be given to the addition of another part to the journal that will focus on emerging technologies -- connected and autonomous transportation, electrification, and shared mobility. He stated that this will allow the journal to expand its author base, readership, and visibility in these rapidly developing areas.
