Ziran Wang Leads Purdue Research in $7.3 Million Automated Driving Project

Ziran Wang, Assistant Professor in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering and Assistant Director of the Institute for Control, Optimization and Networks (ICON) at Purdue University, will lead Purdue's participation in an international project to develop human-centered AI and next-generation automotive computing systems for automated vehicles.

Lovell Lecture Series

The 20th C.W. Lovell Distinguished Lecture will be held on Wednesday, September 16th at 5:30pm in Room 104 of the Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry. Professor Kenichi Soga of the University of California at Berkeley will deliver his lecture titled, "Smart Geotechnical Infrastructure to Realize Performance-based Design and Operation."

Doctoral researcher Johnson Adetooto was selected to receive a 2026 American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Foundation Scholarship, funded by the ASSP Central Indiana Chapter in memory of Jim Kriner, in the amount of $3,000.

Congratulations to Antonio Bobet, Edgar B. and Hedwig M. Olson Professor in Civil Engineering, Marika Santagata, Professor of Civil and Construction Engineering, and alumna Kanika Gupta (PhD 2025), recognized with an honorable mention by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for high value research conducted with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) on detection and assessment of sulfates in the pavement subgrade.
