Purdue CE co-organizes 4th IEEE Forum for Innovative Sustainable Transportation Systems (FISTS)
As the largest academic conference focused on the topic of sustainable transportation, the 4th IEEE Forum for Innovative Sustainable Transportation Systems (FISTS) took place in Riverside, California on Feb. 26th-28th, 2024. This conference series is initiated and supported by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Society, where the previous three events took place in Austria, China, and the Netherlands, respectively. Key research subjects of FISTS include eco-friendly ITS, electric vehicles, shared mobility, sustainable freight, etc.
This year, Purdue CE played a crucial role in organizing this successful event, where Prof. Ziran Wang served as the program chair of this conference, and Prof. Nadia Gkritza served as its program co-chair. They were also involved in two separate panel discussions as panelists, focused on connected and automated vehicle technology and shared mobility, respectively.
FISTS accepted a total of 80 full papers and poster abstracts this year, with a 58% paper acceptance rate. It attracted more than 130 attendees over the three days of the event, who came from four different continents: North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The conference also issued best paper awards and best poster awards to acknowledge the outstanding contributions to the conference program, and CE Ph.D. student Kenny Wijaya was awarded the Best Poster Runner-Up Award for his study on public charging for electric vehicles.
