Gary W. Krutz is a Professor in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue University. He received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Wisconsin, M.A. from the University of Detroit and Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Gary joined Agricultural Engineering in 1976 as an assistant professor. His current responsibilities include teaching power and machinery courses, including hydraulic control systems, welding engineering and the capstone design class. Research interests involve traditional farm machinery automation and robotization along with development of non-contact electronic sensors to assure food quality. Gary is the academic advisor for agricultural engineering undergraduates and is very active in recruiting, advising and job placement of undergraduates.

Gary has received numerous department, school and national teaching awards, including the SAE Teetor Outstanding Educator Award in 1980, the A.A. Potter Best Teacher in Engineering in 1987, the ASAE A.W. Farral Outstanding Educator Award in 1989 and the Murphy Award for Outstanding Teacher at Purdue University in 1995.
