Taylor March, Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs Advertising and Promotion

I found out about the BIRS program after graduating in May 2014 from Purdue University. By my junior year, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in quality assurance or regulatory affairs, so I started looking around right after graduation to see what graduate programs focused on those areas. I came across the hybrid BIRS program that would allow me to hold down a job while pursuing my Master of Science degree in BIRS. Moreover, the flexibility with the BIRS program at Purdue University made it an easy decision to apply, knowing that I could take classes while working as a dose formulations scientist for Covance Laboratories in Greenfield, Indiana.

I valued the seminars by pharmaceutical industry and medical device industry professionals during the weekends we were on Purdue’s campus in West Lafayette. All of the professionals provided their real-world experiences and knowledge of their respective professions and industries. I have been able to take what I learned and apply that information in my workplace.

I enjoyed the numerous group projects we did throughout the two years I was in the program. The projects allowed me to learn ideas and perspectives from my classmates that I continue to utilize today. Additionally, the group projects helped me learn how to manage my time and helped me learn how to efficiently communicate with my colleagues.

If you are someone wanting to pursue a career in quality assurance or regulatory affairs, or if you just want to further your education, I highly recommend furthering your education with the BIRS program.

The master’s degree and the knowledge I gained from the BIRS program are invaluable. I can say with certainty that I would not be where I am in my career had I not pursued the program. The program has opened so many doors and opportunities for me since completing the program, which is why I am so grateful.
