A new Center for Intelligent Infrastructure (CII) at Purdue University is bringing together researchers of various fields to develop technology that a bridge, building, road or other infrastructure could use to communicate directly with humans and respond to disasters, preventing collapse.

As president and CEO of the Coalition for Deep Space Exploration, Mary Lynne Dittmar is embedded within the world of space policy and intimately understands its facets. She was eager to share that knowledge and insight during a nearly week-long visit to Purdue in early November

Suman Chakraborty, Logan Kamperschroer and Jeremy Marcum were selected for the scholarships, specifically awarded to graduate students in propulsion in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Ryan Murphy, a junior in AAE, received a $10,000 scholarship from the Wings Club Foundation.

A state-of-the-art, high-speed imaging system is coming to Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories, thanks to a grant awarded through the Department of Defense’s Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP).

Suman Chakraborty, Jeff Hall, Jeremy Marcum, Islam Nazmy and Smriti Nandan Paul were selected by AAE’s graduate committee.

“This recognition by Time magazine is an honor for the many people who supported LightSail,” said David Spencer, an associate professor in AAE and principal manager on LightSail 2.

A record number of participants and volunteers helped produce another successful Purdue Space Day.

Ernie Gambaro credits the Purdue work ethic for his professional success that led to many Giant Leaps in his career. This legacy will live on through his endowment of the graduate program in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Geoffrey Andrews, Elizabeth Benitez and Paul Witsberger were selected to receive Purdue Forever Fellowship, a $5,000 scholarship.
