The Sigma Gamma Tau Undergraduate Awards serve to select outstanding Aerospace Engineering students at both the regional and national levels.

The Second Annual AAE End of Year Banquet, hosted by Sigma Gamma Tau, was held Wednesday, April 13th to get all the members of the department together and recognize those that have had made major accomplishments throughout the past year.

Dr. Munir M. Sindir, Director of Engineering Technical Disciplines from Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, presented a check to fund undergraduate scholarships to Dr. Tom Shih.

Iowa State University's Department of Aerospace Engineering inducted Prof. Kathleen Howell, Hsu Lo Professor of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, into it's department's Hall of Distinguished Alumni on Friday, April 8, 2011.

Congratulations to Dr. Vikas Tomar on being promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.

Prof Li Qiao and her graduate student Bogdan Pavlov won 2^nd place at the 2011 Combustion Art Competition of the Combustion Institute with Dr Combustion.

Presented annually to an Outstanding Teacher in the Purdue University School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, selected by the undergraduate student body for excellence in teaching and made possible by the interest and generosity of friends and alumni of the school.

Col. Douglas Joyce (BSAAE '67) will be one of six ROTC alumni to be inducted in to the Purdue University Reserve Officer's Training Corps Hall of Fame on April 9^th.
