Purdue's 'space odyssey' loses astronaut Janice Voss

Purdue University alumnus Janice E. Voss, 55, one of the few women launched into space, died of breast cancer Monday (Feb. 6) in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she was receiving treatment. She had logged five space flights, spending a total of 49 days in space and traveling 18.8 million miles in 779 Earth orbits.

2012 Distinguished Engineering Alumni

On February 24th, the College of Engineering will honor Douglas L. Bowers (BSAAE'72) Janice E. Voss (BS Engineering Science'75) and Dennis E. Warner (BSAAE'73) (MSME'76) as three out of seven Engineering Alumni who are distinguished in their engineering careers. The College of Engineering has over 82,000 living alumni. The distinction of DEA has been bestowed upon 479 of these outstanding individuals.

Professor John P. Sullivan - elected fellow of AIAA

John P. Sullivan, professor of aeronautics and astronautics and director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing, was recently elected a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. AIAA fellows are chosen for making notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.
