Sarag J. Saikia received the 2nd Prize in the Outstanding Student Oral Presentation for his paper, "Strategies For Mars Network Science Missions Via Innovative Aerocapture And EDL Architectures." The coauthors are: Blake A. Rogers, James M. Longuski, Harish Saranathan, and Michael J. Grant.

The summer commencement ceremony at Purdue University's West Lafayette campus will be broadcast live for television and Internet audiences.

The event, which will feature graduates wearing new environmentally friendly attire, will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 3), in the Elliott Hall of Music and will be aired live on Comcast Channel 5 and Boiler TV Channel 13.

Congratulations to five Purdue students who are among 25 from across the country selected to receive NASA Aeronautics Scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year. Four are from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and one is from Mechanical Engineering.

Space.com reports on the July 2013 flights in Zero Gravity (AKA Vomit Comet) with a quote from AAE undergrad Patrick Griffin. Prof. Steven Collicott is the faculty member who has been so successful in having a team represent Purdue since 1996.

Two teams from AAE 45100 Design course tied for first place in the NASA University Challenge out of seven teams that entered. The teams, both advised by Professor William Crossley, were led by David Bitter and Matthew Block.

Dr. Steven Collicott has been named the new chair of the Suborbital Applications Researchers Group (SARG) following Dr. Alan Stern, who has stepped down after the completion of his term as the founding chairman.

Prof. Wayne Chen has been elected as Fellow in the Society for Experimental Mechanics. The SEM Executive Board affirmed the nomination of the SEM Fellows Committee on June 21, 2013.
