NASA is developing a wide range of new technologies to support a sustained lunar presence and Mars exploration objectives. As Lead for In-Space Transportation, Dankanich will share NASA’s technology investment strategy, Moon-to-Mars priorities, and a process for developing disruptive technology solutions. As a Purdue alumnus, John will also share his career evolution and lessons learned.

Biography
John Dankanich is both the Chief Technologist for the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Capability Lead for all of NASA for In-Space Transportation. He serves a workforce of approximately 6,000 civil servants and contractors, and guides a portfolio with more than $1B in investments. His work ranges from basic research through flight system delivery.
Dankanich serves strategic alignment activities for technology portfolios across all government agencies, and is an entry point for engagement with industry and academia.
He received BS degrees in Physics and Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue in 2001 and a master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2003. He was recognized as an Outstanding Aerospace Engineer by Purdue AAE in April 2022.
