Modified Valence Force Field (MVFF) method for Si and Ge bulk

Objective:

  • Phonon modeling in zinc-blende semiconductors for the calculation of thermal properties.

Approach:

  • Modified VFF -> potential energy (U) -> Dynamical matrix + boundary conditions -> Phonons.

Impact:

  • Good match with experimental bulk data.
  • Method extended to free-standing nanowires.
