Seminar – Real World Entrepreneurship: from Idea to Implementation

A successful entrepreneur, Mr. Manish Agrawal visited Purdue on September 5th and he shared his experiences with start-ups in his talk.

 

Mr. Agrawal shared his experience and key learnings from the entrepreneurial journey of over a decade, touching upon areas like:
•       Courage to start
•       Is Idea big enough to make market sense
•       Building the core team, addition of Advisory board
•       Raising initial capital
•       Hiring right talent
•       Effective marketing on limited budget
•       Facing failures

The objective would be to ignite certain minds and encourage considering starting up as a career opportunity.

 

Biography:
Mr. Agrawal has been an entrepreneur and strategic advisor with over 11 years of professional experience handling different roles-responsibilities and working in varied industry like software, e-commerce, manufacturing and education. He is a keen believer in execution of ideas.He holds Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Masters in engineering from Purdue University.

His entrepreneurial dreams started from Purdue University, where he took part in BDM Business Plan Competition under the guidance of Prof. Ramani presenting his research project as business idea and was selected as second best idea.

As an entrepreneur, Mr. Agrawal has founded and worked with companies like:

Picsquare.com<http://picsquare.com>, an e-com venture started in India in 2005 was his first hands on with entrepreneurship. He led the product development at Picsquare, later as CEO was managing business development and fund raising. After successfully executing for 4 years, the company was acquired by Infibeam.com<http://infibeam.com>, which is now a listed company in Indian stock exchange.

Techment Technology, his recent technology venture where he is working closely with entrepreneurs in implementing their start-up idea and help reduce time to market, build high quality product and bring  down the cost of development. The company is also aimed at providing world class IT career opportunities to talents in tier-2 cities without having them migrate to bigger cities.

He is also mentoring couple of start-ups in product development and strategy.
