Designing AVs so persons with disabilities can travel anywhere they wish

An estimated 25.5 million people have some type of travel-limiting disability, making daily trips to work, doctor’s appointments, grocery stores, and family outings difficult, if not impossible. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have the potential to make such trips, which most people take for granted, available and convenient for persons with disabilities.

Dr. Cai and Dr. Kou earn "2020 Best Paper" accolades

Resources, Conservation & Recycling journal named three "Best Paper" awards from 2020. Recent IE graduate, Zhaoyu Kou, PhD,'s work, "Quantifying greenhouse gas emissions reduction from bike share systems: a model considering real-world trips and transportation mode choice patterns", was among them.
