The Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University continues to lead in fostering interdisciplinary innovation. At the recent Undergraduate Research Expo, faculty members Wenzhuo Wu, Denny Yu, Young-Jun Son, Vaneet Aggarwal, and Ramses Martinez played pivotal roles in mentoring teams of undergraduate students from diverse fields such as triboelectric sensors with healthcare applications, digital twin technology for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), and machine learning algorithms to improve decision making in healthcare to name a few.
These faculty guided students in developing projects that showcased cutting-edge research and real-world problem-solving skills. The collaboration highlighted the school’s commitment to hands-on learning and interdisciplinary approaches that prepare students for future challenges in engineering, analytics, and beyond. Graduate students, like Pedro Barbosa and Nachiket Vatkar provided valuable mentorship as well. Barbosa states that he learned valuable lessons through mentoring, such as the value of working with collaborating with peers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
This mentorship underscores the Edwardson School’s dedication to shaping the next generation of innovators and leaders in industrial engineering.
