Author: Chloee Robison
Meet Rene Ingea, a senior studying industrial engineering with minors in management and statistics!

Rene is the president of Boilermaker Consulting Group and the Vice President of Alpha Pi Mu. He has a passion for high-risk sports and especially enjoys doing freestyle tricks and jumps while skiing!

Rene came to Purdue looking for outstanding career opportunities and a great campus lifestyle. Originally from Lebanon, he was excited to find a global  community at Purdue, one that he has been able to grow with over the past three years.

Coming to West Lafayette was a big leap for Rene. It was his first time in the US, and having only studied English for two years prior to enrolling at Purdue, the language barrier is a difficulty he says he is proud to have overcome. Finding friends and meeting people from across the globe helped him adjust to life away from his home country.

Rene’s interest in industrial engineering began during high school. The cafeteria system at his school was riddled with inefficiencies, causing escalated wait times and scheduling issues. Rene was able to propose changes which decreased delays by 30%. Encouraged by his success, he began looking for an academic path that would allow him to pursue similar projects and came across industrial engineering!

Rene - Boilermaker ConsultingRene’s plans for senior year involve expanding opportunities through the Boilermaker Consulting Group. This year, the organization is giving back to the Purdue community by offering consulting help for local startups. Rene’s work with the student organization has motivated him to pursue a career in consulting following graduation.

Rene’s advice for younger students is to get involved early in extracurriculars and co-ops. His experiences have allowed him to take on a lot of responsibility and network with incredible individuals!
