Ilayda Karagol, a senior in industrial engineering, presented her research poster titled, "Describing STEM Students’ Patterns of Ethical Concern". The group included Karagol, Hunter Hollinger, Liyang Qu, & Min Gyeong Kang; and was advised by Dr. Colin M. Gray, assistant professor of computer graphics technology, and Shruthi Chivukula, graduate research assistant in computer graphics technology.

"I decided to do this project because I want to pursue a career in HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) and this project was a good first step for me to see what that field looks like and what the potential for me is in the future," explained Karagol. "As an IE, I was able to use my soft skills as we did critical and strategic interviews that lasted 30-60 minutes. I also was able to use the skills I have gained by doing research in our IE school, to do a literature review on this project."

"I have been involved in undergraduate research for one-and-a-half years now, and I plan to continue," she added. "Doing research at Purdue definitely pushed me to consider going into grad school, and I am currently preparing to take my GRE and applying to schools in the fall."

The annual symposium helps undergraduate researchers learn to communicating research through presentations and publications. It was organized and sponsored by the Purdue Colleges of Engineering, Agriculture, Education, Health & Human Sciences, Liberal Arts, Pharmacy, and Science; and the Honors College, Krannert School of Management, Office of Undergraduate Research, Purdue Libraries & School of Information Studies, and the Purdue Polytechnic Institute.
