Graduate students from Purdue teamed up with students from Dresden, Germany to complete an international course in refrigeration and compressors. They spent one week at the Technical University of Dresden, collaborated long-distance over the summer, and then convened for one week at Purdue University's Herrick Labs to present their final projects.

That's the focus of three simultaneous conferences happening this week at Herrick Labs: the 16th International Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Conference, the 23rd International Compressor Engineering Conference, and the 4th International High Performance Buildings Conference.

The 23rd International Compressor Engineering Conference, the 16th International Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Conference and the 4th International High Performance Buildings Conference will be held July 11-14, 2016, on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Carrie Hall (Ph.D. 2012) was recently awarded the NSF Early Career Award, one of the most prestigious NSF honors for outstanding young researchers.

Researchers are using a technology likened to "mini force fields" to independently control individual microbots operating within groups -- an advance aimed at using the tiny machines in manufacturing and medicine. The work is being overseen by David Cappelleri, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue.

Professor J. Stuart Bolton was recently given the 2015 Ruth and Joel Spira award by the School of Mechanical Engineering.

More than a dozen companies joined Purdue in November to launch the Center for High Performance Buildings.
