Herrick student recognized at SPIE Smart Structures/NDE conference

Francesco Danzi, visiting scholar working with Prof. James Gibert on topology optimization smart structure with internal resonance, won a SPIE Student Paper Award at the annual conference recently held in Portland, OR.

SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics. His paper is titled "Topology synthesis of planar ground structures for energy harvesting applications".  Francesco performed his work at the ADAMS lab (Advanced Dynamics and Mechanics Lab) at Ray W. Herrick Laboratories.  Francesco was awarded $300 at the conference.
