Eckhard Groll to receive Institute of Refrigeration J&E Gold Medal

Eckhard Groll, Associate Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Education and the Reilly Professor of Mechanical Engineering, will receive the Institute of Refrigeration J&E Gold Medal.
The Institute, based in the United Kingdom, will present the award to Eckhard on Feb. 22 in London. Eckhard was selected based on his "most noteworthy contribution to the advancement of refrigeration." He will receive a prize award of $6,949.
Eckhard's research focuses on thermal sciences as applied to HVAC&R systems and equipment.
The Institute of Refrigeration was founded in 1899 as the Cold Storage and Ice Association and was the first national society of mechanical refrigeration in the world. Today, it is an independent registered charity run for the public benefit and has a membership of more than 2,200.
