Sivaranjani "Siva" Seetharaman named Outstanding Young Investigator by IISE.

Assistant Professor Siva Seetharaman has been selected as this year’s Outstanding Young Investigator Award from IISE’s Energy Systems Division.
 
Seetharaman will be recognized at the IISE Annual Conference and Expo in Montreal, Canada this May. 
 
This award recognizes IISE ESD members under the age of 35 for their contributions to the field of energy systems. Seetharaman will also be recognized in ISE magazine and on the ES webpage and newsletter. 
 
Seetharaman’s work has applications in many sectors but focuses on the development of algorithms and software tools to maintain and improve the performance of today’s power grids. She has previously been named one of MIT Technology Review’s “35 Innovators Under 35.” Seetharaman’s team, co-led by Professor Vijay Gupta, is also a recent recipient of the Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) award presented by the Department of Defense. Their work involves developing new mathematical tools to control complex system behavior in response to unexpected events and disturbances.
