Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies

Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies is for students who want an engineering education but do not plan to practice engineering. Coursework ranges from exploring general engineering interests to preparing for medical school.

  • Engineering Science Studies Concentration (pdf): Students prepare for careers that benefit an engineering background
  • Pre-Professional Engineering Studies Concentration (pdf): Students prepare for a professional school (e.g. medical school, law school or veterinary school). For example, IDES' Pre-Medical Engineering Studies students utilize engineering competencies to understand the mechanics and processes of the musculoskeletal system beyond a typical pre-med plan of study. Curricula may include coursework in engineering, biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physiology. Students are able to select courses that will prepare them for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
