Rules for CODO

Rules For Students Not in the First-Year Engineering Program

  1. A Plan of Study (POS) for given concentration must be submitted to IDE and be endorsed by the Director of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Program, or the Director’s assistant. The POS must make sense and not be easily done in one of the Schools of Engineering. The essence of a Plan of Study is planning ahead. Students should visit IDE, develop a POS using IDE’s spreadsheet with the aid of an IDE counselor, and submit it to IDE before their next to last semester at Purdue. It is unrealistic to expect to contact IDE, develop a POS, CODO into IDE, and graduate the same semester. All plans of study must be formally approved by the Engineering Education Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, which meets in March and October, before students can graduate with an IDE degree. Approval of the POS is a completely separate step from the CODO process. Students may submit their POS for approval by the Committee before they meet CODO requirements.
  2. Must have completed all First-Year Engineering Program requirements.
  3. Engineering Admissions Index must be 2.0 or better.
  4. Must be in good standing as a student at Purdue – West Lafayette Campus, and not on probation. Semester index must be 2.0 or better.
  5. The GPA of engineering courses (200 level and above) must be 2.0 or above. This index will be calculated after reinstating all removed (“redlined”) engineering courses.
  6. The Cumulative Graduation index (GPA) must be 2.5 or better. This index will be calculated after reinstating all removed (“redlined”) courses.
  7. CODO papers received after the drop deadline during a semester or a summer session will be processed after grades have been posted for that term.

Students who want to re-enter Purdue who were not in IDE will follow the CODO rules. Students who were not in IDE will not be readmitted to Purdue in IDE.

Rules for Re-Entry

Students who want to re-enter Purdue who were not in IDE will follow the CODO rules. Students who were not in IDE will not be readmitted to Purdue in IDE.
