John Klier (MS ’86, PhD ’89) was named Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, effective October 25, 2015. He joins academia from The Dow Chemical Company, where he served as global research and development director for the Performance Materials and Chemicals Segment. Dr. Klier is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and also a Dow Distinguished Fellow, the highest scientific level within the corporation. He received the Purdue 2015 Outstanding Chemical Engineering Award 2015 Purdue OChE .
