The Duncan and Suzanne Mellichamp Lectureship was established in 2013 to recognize the work of a distinguished young researcher in any area related to the field of chemical engineering. The recipient is selected by the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering faculty in recognition of his or her contributions to research and education.

In its very first year of being formed, ​ BoilerCube, a Chemical Engineering club of undergraduate students, sent a team to compete at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Boston where they were awarded 3rd place overall as well as best entrepreneurship award with their design to remove CO2 from air.

Professor Vilas Pol and Visiting Scholar Saibhargava Reddy Mandapati have their art displayed in the Vibrant Arts Exhibition in Armstrong Hall of Purdue University. Through their artistic creations, the innovative and creative nature of these researchers is unmistakably evident, demonstrating that scientific rigor and artistic vision are complementary expressions of intellectual curiosity.

Chemical engineering professor Vilas Pol of Purdue University was honored with the prestigious Hind Rattan (Jewel of India) award by the NRI Welfare Society, India during a distinguished ceremony at the Lord Mayor of Oxford’s Council Chamber in Oxford, UK on October 30, 2025.
