The Lyles School of Civil Engineering invites exceptional candidates with a record of competitively-funded research projects and scholarly accomplishments in structural engineering to apply for a full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty position. The successful candidate is expected to be hired at the Associate or Full Professor Level. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have demonstrated themselves capable of building a well-funded independent research program at the forefront of their field, as well as educating and mentoring students. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service both at the School and University levels.
Candidates with a demonstrated record of securing and completing competitively-awarded experimental research are encouraged to apply. The successful individual will be expected to contribute to the sustainability of the Robert L. and Terry L. Bowen Large-Scale Civil Engineering Laboratory through their research program. Individuals with experience in experimental and numerical research on but not limited to: (i) new and innovative testing and design methods, or (ii) ageing, retrofitted / rehabilitated structures made from (a) traditional (concrete, steel, wood, masonry, etc.), and/or (b) new / innovative materials are encouraged to apply. Candidates with interests in all areas of structural engineering (e.g., bridges, buildings, infrastructure, maritime, defense, etc.) will be considered.
The Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 10 civil engineering undergraduate and graduate programs in the country. The 66,000 square foot Robert L. and Terry L. Bowen Large-Scale Civil Engineering Laboratory is one of best equipped structural engineering facilities in the United States.
