CE to host Bridge Bust competition

Teams from 13 Indiana and Illinois high schools will construct bridges only to see them destroyed during the 32nd annual Bridge Bust contest March 4 at Purdue University.

NEXTRANS Undergraduate Summer Internship in Transportation

The application deadline is March 21, 2011 for this 10-week internship that runs May 23 - July 31, 2011. Interns will be assigned to work on a NEXTRANS-funded project based on educational background, availability, and if possible, indicated interests.

2020 Vision Report on Earthquake Engineering

CE faculty led in the development of a report summarizing the community vision for the future of earthquake engineering research. This report will be used to define the next generation of research and the role of the cyberinfrastructure and experimental facilities within the NEES network.

New Slide Rule Display calls CE home

In August 2010, we welcomed a new addition to the Civil Engineering Building's ground floor hallway. Once housed in the Potter Engineering Building, the Purdue University Slide Rule Display proudly exhibits more than 30 slide rules from the original collection of approximately 200.

For Courtney Gosewisch there will be all that...plus practicing to get ready to play volleyball on the biggest stage: the NCAA championship, which kicks off this week, and that will crown the national champion at the Final Four in Kansas City on December 18.

System would help Haiti build, modify earthquake-prone structures

Civil engineers studying the effects of Haiti's devastating earthquake have concluded that a relatively simple system could be used by officials to quickly decide how to modify existing buildings and construct new ones that would better withstand future quakes.
