2014 International conferences at Purdue organized by CE and Herrick Faculty

The 2014 Herrick conferences, organized by Herrick Labs and Architectural Engineering Faculty, will take place on July 14-17 at Purdue University. The three recognized international conferences (Compressors, Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning, and High Performance Buildings) will run in parallel and will again lead the way to exchanging ideas, information and cutting-edge research in these areas.

Greg Miller elected AGCI President

CE Alumnus Greg Miller, President of Diamond Construction Company located in Quincy, was elected as President of the Associated General Contractors of Illinois at the 107th AGCI Annual Convention held in Springfield. Miller served last year as the First Vice President and previously as the Second Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer.

Bowen, Dudley bike 150 miles for MS society

CE alumni Bill Dudley and Bob Bowen rode 153 miles in the 2014 BP MS-150 from Houston to Austin (Texas) on the Bechtel Cycling Team to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Purdue Road School - Celebrating 100 Years

The 100th Purdue Road School was held March 11-13 2014. Civil engineering professors Darcy Bullock and John Haddock served as co-chairs of the conference that included 160 sessions attended by approximately 2,330 transportation professionals.

Center for Roadway Safety: Research in Motion

The Center for Roadway Safety (CRS) focuses on driver and roadway infrastructure safety through a multi-disciplinary approach to research. Through its collaborations with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), Homeland Security and various offices at the US DOT, CRS has compiled one of the largest traffic-safety databases in the State of Indiana.

Cary Troy receives Exceptional Early Career Award

Assistant Professor Cary Troy has been named the recipient of Purdue's new Exceptional Early Career Award. The award was created by the Office of the Provost and the Murphy Award selection committee to recognize outstanding undergraduate teaching among Purdue's early career, tenure-track faculty.

Drnevich, co-authors receive ASTM's 2014 Hogentogler Award

Dr. Vince Drnevich and co-authors (Salim K. Werden, John R. Hall, Jr., Chafik Hankour, Carolyn T. Conlee, and W. Allen Marr) have been chosen as recipients of the 2014 Hogentogler Award. The award is presented for their paper entitled, "New Approach to Resonant Column Testing," appearing in the March 2013 edition of the ASTM Geotechnical Testing Journal.

Labi receives Frank M. Masters Award

Associate Professor Samuel Labi has been selected by the Transportation and Development Institute to receive the 2014 Frank M. Masters Award for his outstanding and innovative work in advancing the area of transportation infrastructure asset management systems.
