The Purdue University civil engineering building has been named for alumnus and donor Delon Hampton and his mother, Elizabeth Hampton. The naming ceremony was held on Friday, September 14th.

Rao "GS" Govindaraju, the Christopher B. and Susan S. Burke Professor of Civil Engineering, has been named the next Bowen Engineering Head of the School of Civil Engineering, effective July 1, 2012.

Purdue engineering faculty have a long history of researching infrastructure in the U.S. and around the world. Featured here are CE associate professors Robert Connor and Amit Varma, and their work on assessing structural safety and developing innovative solutions.

Fighting cancer is personal for CE grad Patrick Byrne and the Drumline team he leads at Purdue's Relay for Life. Their pulsing rhythms open the event and infuse energy to the student walkers throughout the 15-hour trek. A string of records recognize donations exceeding $18,000 — including the top team for three years running, top individual and top on-site fundraiser.

Dr. A. Ramachandra Rao, Professor Emeritus of Hydraulic and Hydrologic Engineering, received the Ven Te Chow Award from the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Drs. Prezzi and Salgado, professors of Geotechnical Engineering in CE, are leading a group of students in a study abroad class focused on Brazil Energy and Transportation Infrastructure.

CE student Andrea Bailey will play a leading role as drum major for the Purdue University "All-American" Marching Band in 2012-13.
