Committee Work

Alumni Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Communication with ABE alumni

  • Organize events including our alumni

Active Work:

This semester, the Alumni Committee is working on planning an alumni mentor and mentee night. We will have a few alumni's from each major within ABE meeting with students to discuss their experiences in ABE and their careers. We hope students can make connections with someone in their intended industry.

We also are working to plan a company information session for ABE students with ABE alumni before Industrial Roundtable this fall. We hope to get a variety of companies from different industries to allow ABE students to have a connection prior to these big job fairs and have more time to ask questions and learn about the companies in the small group setting ABE provides.

Community Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Orgainize events for the ABE community

  • Creation of ABE merch

Active Work:

Our community has several projects this semester. Firstly, we are working to create an intramural sports team. We are also planning to launch ABE ambassador and department merch. Finally, we are in the process of organizing ABE community events for people in the department to be able to get together and have fun. One example of this is Quiet Week Bagels, which will be making a return due to its success last semester.

Industry Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Communication with industry partners

  • Aid students with professional pursuits

Active Work:

We are working to create 1-3 slides that can be used adjacently to ABE seminar class to resume assignments. The slides will describe the steps to follow to be able to upload students' resumes to the myCCO resume database. This will help populate more ABE specific resumes in the myCCO database, which is currently lacking. It is just a good way to get more ABE students names into employers' hands.

Outreach Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching people about the ABE department

  • Marketing the program

Active Work:

Our committee is currently constructing a new trifold to be used at future tabling events; it has been a while since the ambassadors updated the trifold. We are utilizing ambassador testimonies and photos for the design to better highlight the true experience of being an ABE student. The importance in having such a trifold is to ensure we as ambassadors display the best this departemnt has to offer to potential future ABE students

Recruitment Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of new ABE Ambassadors, including interviews and applications

  • Helping new ambassadors acclimate to the program

Active Work:

The Recruitment Committee’s current project is optimizing and refining the recruitment process for next semester from application to interview. This involves getting feedback from the last semester, identifying weaknesses in the rubrics used.  Additionally, we’ve been considering an “Ambassadors Training Program” for newly recruited ambassadors to learn the ropes from the seniors to better understand their new responsibilties. Finally, we have been exploring other, lower commitment ways fo people to get involved alongside the ambassadors program.

Social Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Posting on Social Media Accounts

  • Updating Website

Active Work:

The Social Committee is currently working on updating the ABE Ambassadors’ website and social media pages to improve our overall online presence. Our goal is to make our content more consistent, organized, and engaging for students, alumni, and anyone interested in the program.

To help with this, we’re creating templates for social media posts so everything has a more cohesive look and feel. We’re also developing a posting schedule to stay more consistent and keep our pages active. These updates will help us communicate more effectively and showcase what the ABE Ambassadors are doing.
