An experiment by Purdue AAE professor Steven Collicott ended with success aboard the first suborbital rocket research flight by private company Blue Origin. Prof. Collicott is one of three scientists asked by Blue Origin to work with the private company as it tested and perfected its suborbital rocket design.

AAE PhD student Alex Friedman has been awarded an Indiana Space Grant Consortium (INSGC) Doctoral Fellowship for the 2016-2017 academic year. Friedman is a PhD candidate under Visiting Assistant Professor Carolin Frueh.

AAE junior Emily Schulz is spending her summer on co-op with UTC Aerospace Systems in Rockford, IL.

Andretti Autosport engineer and 2011 Purdue University graduate Nick Heinz played a crucial role in helping rookie Alexander Rossi win the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 29. Nick was a student of AAE Professor John Sullivan and received his MS AAE in 2011.

AAE junior Michael Reinhold is spending his summer on co-op with ATA Engineering in San Diego, CA.

AAE Professor Bill Anderson recently gave an Expert Talk and presented a paper at the International Symposium on Thermoacoustic Instabilities in Gas Turbines and Rocket Engines at the Institute for Advanced Studies at the Technical University of Munich.

AAE graduate student Robert Rolley has been awarded an Indiana Space Grant Consortium (INSGC) Fellowship for the 2016-2017 academic year. Rolley is a Masters student under Visiting Assistant Professor Sarag Saikia.

AAE Associate Professor Li Qiao along with PhD candidates Sayan Biswas and Shourya Jain recently received an honorable mention in the 2016 Combustion Art Competition. The artwork, titled “Mesmerizing Micro-World of a Monopropellant Matrix (4M),” was chosen from among 40 submissions.
