Purdue AAE Professor Dan Delaurentis
The AFSB brings together subject matter experts from across aerospace to provide independent, objective, and authoritative external advice to the Department of the Air Force.

Purdue AAE professor Dan Delaurentis has been appointed and accepted service into the Air Force Studies Board (AFSB) with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. National Academies is an independent group that informs public policy through evidence, and sparks progress and innovation, by collaborating with leading thinkers in academia.

Delaurentis is humbled to serve given the august group of current members, but is eager to contribute his knowledge and experience as a leading researcher in the system-of-systems field. Delaurentis was appointed vice president for Discovery Park District Institutes at Purdue in December 2022. He also leads multiple institutes, committees and advisory boards both in and outside of Purdue.

The AFSB considers itself the principal interface between the Department of the Air Force and the National Academies on issues related to engineering, defense acquisition, logistics and more in support of Air and Space Force missions. It aims to provide objective, authoritative advice to the Department of the Air Force.

Purdue AAE alumnus Christopher Azzano (BSAAE 1987, OAE 2019) also serves on the AFSB.
