Paper featured on cover of Journal of Applied Physics
A paper by AAE students on shock impact induced failure and temperature rise in energetic materials was chosen for the cover of the Journal of Applied Physics.

Ayotomi Olokun and Chandra Prakash joined AAE Professor Vikas Tomar and Ibrahim Emre Gunduz, an associate professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, as credited authors on “The role of microstructure in the impact induced temperature rise in hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)–cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine (HMX) energetic materials using the cohesive finite element method,” the paper that was featured in Volume 128, Issue 6 on August 14, 2020.
Olokun (BSAAE ’15, MSAAE ’17) is in her fourth year as Tomar’s Ph.D. student. Prakash received his Ph.D. from AAE in 2018 and worked as a postdoctoral research associate until April 2019.
