AAE PhD student Arnau Pons has been appointed as the Congress Manager of the Space Generation Congress 2017 (SGC) in Adelaide, Australia. Pons is currently researching on combustion instabilities in aerospace propulsion systems at the Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories under the guidance of AAE Prof. William Anderson. The announcement was made during the SGC 2016 held in Guadalajara (Mexico) from September 22nd to 24th, 2016. Previously, Pons volunteered as the Deputy Congress Manager for SGC 2016. As Congress Manager, he will lead a team of international students and young professionals coordinating the organization and preparation for SGC 2017. The SGC 2017 will be hosted at The University of Adelaide (Australia) from September 21st to 23rd.

The Space Generation Congress (SGC) is the annual meeting of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) held in conjunction with the International Astronautical Congress. Participants include top university students and young professionals from various areas of the international sector – government, industry, and academia – who have a passion for space. Every year, the Congress attracts more than 130 delegates from over 30 countries to outline solutions for today’s space biggest challenges. The SGAC is a non-profit organization with a Permanent Observer status in the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS). The SGAC is supported by international space agencies such as NASA, ESA, JAXA or CNES, and by aerospace companies.
