December 2011 Engineering Commencement to be shown live on TV and Webcast

Purdue Pete in Graduation CapThe spring commencement ceremonies at Purdue University's West Lafayette campus will be broadcast live for television and Internet audiences.

The College of Engineering will have its ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Sunday December 18, 2011.

A total of 2,599 students are candidates for degrees at the West Lafayette campus, including 1,725 undergraduates, 349 doctoral students, 514 master's students, one education specialist and 10 professional degree-seekers. A posthumous bachelor of science and associate of science degree will be awarded to Sean A. Matti, a former student in the College of Technology.

Elena M. McCord, of Highland, Ind., who will receive a bachelor's degree from the College of Education, will provide the student response during the morning ceremony. Bryan T. Morris of Greenwood, S.C., who is to receive a bachelor's degree from the College of Technology, will give the student response at the afternoon ceremony.

The ceremonies will feature two large video screens above the stage to show close-up images of the graduates as they receive their diplomas. The event will be aired live on Comcast Channel 5 and Boiler TV. It also will be shown live via Webcast at mms://video1.itap.purdue.edu/graduation

The link will not become active until 48 hours before the ceremony.

Commencement videos will be available for $30 per DVD. Order forms can be obtained at the Loeb Playhouse box office or by calling 765-494-3933. Forms may be submitted both before and after the ceremony within two weeks of the event.
