3D sensors started being extensively used in numerous applications, yet the capacilities of those commercially available 3D sensors are far from being adequately exploited. The objective of this research team is to develop the next generation 3D sensors that could be deployed to conquer challenges facing in the state of the art sensors, or use the existing 3D sensors more intelligently through better 3D data analysis algorithms. The application areas could be autonomous vehicles, forensic sciences, and robotics.
