As part of NEA Global Forum, on September 20-21, 2023, the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), will host the Rising Stars Program’s first ‘Rising Stars’ workshop. 

During the workshop, Molly will present her research poster titled “A Physics-Driven Statistical Surrogate of Scalar Turbulence” and receive a certificate of completion. In addition, Ross will have the opportunity to participate in a series of activities, designed to further the Global Forum Rising Stars Program’s mission of reaching within the nuclear field, adjacent disciplines, and beyond to welcome female rising stars in science, technology, education and policy into the global nuclear community. In achieving this mission, each keynote, invited talk, panel, and session, will offer the opportunity for professional development, mentor and advocate introductions, and peer-to-peer networking. 

Molly’s acceptance into the 2023 ‘Rising Star’ cohort was due to a strong application packet that included a nomination from Dr. Seungjin Kim, the Capt. James F. McCarthy, Jr. and Cheryl E. McCarthy Head of the School of Nuclear Engineering, a statement of purpose, a resume/CV, and an abstract for her poster presentation. Each university department head was allowed to nominate ONE female undergraduate, graduate, or early career postdoctoral scholar, as a ‘Rising Star’ from their program. Molly’s packet stood out amongst a large number of exceptional applications from around the world. 

“I am thrilled and honored to be selected as a participant in the NEA Rising Stars Workshop. This will be an incredible opportunity to further my professional development and meet with other women in the nuclear field,” said Ross. “I would like to thank Dr. Kim for the nomination and my advisor, Dr. Bindra, for his guidance and support.”
