NE student gives presentations to local high schoolers

Purdue School of Nuclear Engineering graduate student and research assistant Russell Brayfield gave two presentations to local high school students on Friday, December 2 and Monday, December 5.

Brayfield (pictured right) visited Twin Lakes High School in Monticello, Indiana where he presented to the Chemistry classes.

Brayfield introduced students to material on nuclear energy, demonstrations of the radiation detector and radioactive items, and cloud chambers. Students were able to assemble their own cloud chambers, which allowed them to see the path of radiation particles as they left a trail of droplets in the saturated region.

Brayfield is the recipient of the 2014-2015 Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award. To learn more, visit: http://www.purdue.edu/cie/teachingacademy/outsdandingteaching.html
