"My BS from General Motors Institute was excellent for applied engineering, in a co-op structure. GM then sent me to Purdue to broaden my exposure, in an academic environment. The combination jumpstarted my career. My MSIE was focused on Operations Research and I took as many classes as possible at Krannert. As a result, I felt like I received an education in both systems engineering and business. Both have served me well. I took a lot of kidding from engineers about not being a ?real? engineer (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical), but the IE breadth worked well and allowed me to interface effectively on both technical and business issues."
