Anna Bakst has over 20 years of experience managing and cultivating businesses for American fashion houses. She is currently the Group President of Accessories & Footwear at Michael Kors, a global luxury lifestyle brand. In her role, Anna leads the global design, production, and merchandising teams as well as oversees domestic wholesale distribution.
In 2003, Anna led the successful launch of the Michael Kors Accessories and Footwear businesses. Combined, these product categories represent 80% of the company's revenue. Ten years later, the brand has over 500 stores in more than 85 countries worldwide, as well as wholesale distribution to top department stores around the world. Michael Kors was recently ranked in Millward Brown's "Top 10 Luxury Report". In Deloitte's "Global Powers of Luxury Goods", Michael Kors was ranked in the Top 25 Global Luxury Companies with net sales exceeding $4 billion and is the fastest growing in the world.
Anna came to Michael Kors following a 12-year tenure at Donna Karan International. While at Donna Karan, she advanced from Director of Licensing to President of Accessories and Footwear achieving annual revenues in excess of $150 million. Prior to her transition into the fashion industry, Anna's career began with IBM as a Marketing Representative for the National Accounts Division.
Anna received her MBA in 1987 from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and earned her BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. She is also an active member on the Board of Directors for Fashion Footwear Association of New York and Two Ten Footwear Foundation.
Anna currently resides in New York City with her husband Peter (MBA 1987) and her two sons Andrew (Stanford Class of 2018) and Daniel (18).
