Bill Frederick recently retired as Apple's Vice President of AppleCare and Logistics, where he led a team of more than 20,000 people around the world who deliver service and support and manage supply chain logistics for all of Apple's iconic products. Bill played a vital role in Apple's remarkable growth over the past decade as he built an award winning customer experience in Applecare, grew Apple's logistics infrastructure to enable over 30 times growth in revenue, and helped launch and build Apple's chain of over 400 retail stores. Bill also added a new challenge leading Apple's Supplier Responsibility team, ensuring that working conditions in Apple's supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that manufacturing processes are environmentally responsible. Bill's over 14 years with Apple also included roles running Apple's manufacturing plants, building the fulfillment engine behind Apple's online store, and many other key components of Apple's global fulfillment infrastructure. Prior to Apple Bill spent 14 years with IBM where he held senior management positions in materials management, logistics, engineering, and information systems. Bill also spent 3 years as Vice President of Operations for Intelligent Electronics, a technology products distributor, where he was responsible for the company's logistics, distribution, and configuration operations. Today Bill is retired, serving on non-profit boards and running a boutique lavender farm with his wife Karen in the hills above Silicon Valley. Bill earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue and an MBA from Duke.
