Vinod Sahney is Distinguished University Professor, Northeastern University; Professor of Health Policy and Management Harvard University; and Senior Fellow Institute for Health Care Improvement (IHI). His 30-year professional career in the healthcare industry includes serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Henry Ford Health System, MI, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, MA. He has taught at Harvard University Executive Programs for the past 38 years and in Executive programs in Health care in over 15 other countries. He has served as a management consultant to over 30 health care institutions. He is author of 2 Books, 50+ papers and over 200 Presentations at National and International meetings. He has served on seven hospital Boards and currently serves on the Board of Sisters of Charity, Denver; Atrius Health, Boston; Patient Safety Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital-Boston. He also currently serves on the Board of Syntel, Inc., and the Concord Museum. He has served on the Advisory Board of Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Wisconsin, Penn State, and the Regenstrief Center for Health Care Engineering at Purdue. He served as one of the nine Judges for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Defense Health Care Advisory Board. He is founding member and served as Chairman of the Board of IHI, a founding member and President of the Society for Health Systems and a founding member of the Group Practice Improvement Network. His honors include the Frank and Lillian Gilbreth award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers; Elected to The National Academy of Engineering; Elected to The National Academy of Medicine; Best Paper Award for the American College of Health Care Executives; Distinguished Engineer Award from the College of Engineering, University of Wisconsin, Madison; Fellow HIMSS, IIE and SHS. He and his wife have been married for 45 years, and they have two children and four grandchildren.
