IDES Concentrations

The Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies (IDES) program offers two (2) focused concentrations

  • You must complete the requirements of Purdue's First-Year Engineering Program before being admitted into the IDES program.
  • Upon entry, you will determine which academic pathway best suits your educational and career objectives.
  • You will be allowed to take courses outside the College of Engineering.
  • Upon completing all degree requirements (dependent upon your chosen pathway), you will graduate with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
  • With strong academic performance, you may progress to graduate school or choose to pursue a career in industry or other sectors of the global economy.

Visit the Office of the Registrar University Catalog for more information on each concentration's degree/graduation requirements. Not finding a concentration or plan of study that matches your academic and professional interests?  Schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor to learn more about the opportunities and limits of a “self-design” plan of study.
