Purdue’s Ray Mentzer Honored with University of Illinois Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award

Congratulations to Ray Mentzer, Purdue Professor of Engineering Practice, on being awarded the University of Illinois' Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award on Friday, September 13. This prestigious award honors graduates for their exceptional professional and technical achievements, dedication to the department, and service to society.
 
Ray Mentzer was selected by the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering’s Alumni Awards Committee for his distinguished career at ExxonMobil and his continued service to the department. Over his career, he has made significant contributions in oil and gas facility design, research, and process safety. Currently, as the Executive Director of the Process Safety & Assurance Center at Purdue, Mentzer continues to shape future engineers.
 
He is one of six recipients of the 2024 ChBE Alumni Achievement Awards, a testament to his professional leadership, contributions to chemical engineering, and dedication to both society and academia. The awards will be presented at the ChBE Alumni Awards Ceremony, honoring the legacy of these distinguished professionals.
 
Mentzer recently was awarded a 2024 Davidson School of Chemical Engineering Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award for his hard work and lifetime achievements.
