Stephen Beaudoin, Professor of Chemical Engineering, is Elected to Join the AIChE Board of Directors

Stephen Beaudoin, professor of chemical engineering at the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Purdue Energetics Research Center (PERC), has been elected to join the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Board of Directors.

Stephen Beaudoin, professor of chemical engineering at the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering and 
Director of the Purdue Energetics Research Center (PERC), has been elected to join the American Institute 
of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Board of Directors. AIChE is the global home of chemical engineers, 
boasting over 60,000 members in over 110 countries. Built on innovating for sustainability, pioneering 
excellence, and unlocking potential, the institution seeks to serve chemical engineers in all areas, from core 
process industries, to emerging areas. The election results were announced at the AIChE Annual Meeting in 
San Diego, CA on October 28, 2024.  
Beaudoin will serve a three-year term as a board member alongside other accomplished chemical 
engineering professionals. Throughout his tenure, he hopes to integrate workforce development activities, 
leveraging the AIChE Institute for Learning and Innovation (ILI). He is passionate about encouraging the 
development of more asynchronous, remote educational content in key topic areas, inspiring students and 
professionals alike to succeed.

Professor Beaudoin currently leads the Purdue Energetics Research Center (PERC) as its Founding 
Director, directing multiple DoD-sponsored research centers. He also is the Founding Academic Director 
of a novel online, defense and security-focused, master's degree program, which serves multiple U.S. 
Navy bases. Over the course of his distinguished career, Beaudoin has received several awards, with 
many centering around his professorship and mentorship, including the National Science Foundation 
(NSF) Early Career Research Award, A.A. Potter Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Instruction 
(Purdue University College of Engineering), Shreve Prize for Outstanding Undergraduate Instruction 
(Purdue University School of Chemical Engineering), College of Engineering Outstanding Mentor 
Award (Purdue University), and Outstanding Mentor Award (Purdue OXE).
