Fabio Ribeiro selected for 2023 Exceptional Achievements in Catalysis award

Fabio H. Ribeiro, the R. Norris and Eleanor Shreve Professor of Chemical Engineering and director of the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR) has been selected for The Catalysis Science and Technology Division (CATL) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) 2023 award for Exceptional Achievements in Catalysis.

This award is given in recognition of “excellence and scientific leadership in catalysis science and technology by an individual, emphasizing the impact of a researcher's body of work in the broad field of catalytic chemistry and catalytic materials or molecules,” according to the award announcement.

Ribeiro stood out among a very strong cohort of other candidates for his careful insights into the kinetics of catalytic reactions and his leadership in support of catalysis for sustainable shale gas utilization. He will receive the award at a special symposium during the 2023 ACS National Meeting that will take place in San Francisco, California in August.

The CATL is a division of the American Chemical Society with the goal to bridge the gap between the more fundamental aspects of catalysis, such as surface science and computational modeling, and applied catalytic reaction engineering.
