Dr. Letian Dou, Assistant Professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University, was recently elected as Area 8E Electronic and Photonic Materials Programming Chair for 2020-2021 by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Dou’s term begins in November 2019 and runs through the end of 2020. As Area 8E Programming Chair, Dou will be responsible for administration of various duties related to assembling the technical program in electronic and photonic materials during his term. In the next AIChE Annual Meeting in San Francisco (2020), Dou will oversee organization of approximately 10 sessions, including about 60 talks and more than 100 posters, on topical areas of current interest to the research community. He will also select emerging and leading researchers from academia, industry, and national laboratories to serve as session chairs and co-chairs.

“As a materials scientist, I am excited to bring more expertise from the materials science community into the chemical engineering community,” Dou said. “This type of collaboration is key to solving important engineering problems together.”

Dou has served in numerous capacities in the AIChE community. At the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting, he co-chaired the Area 8E, and served as Graduate Student Award Session chair and the Thermoelectric and Electrochemical Applications of Semiconductors Session chair. In 2018, Dou co-chaired the Area 8E Graduate Student Award Session and the Electronics and Photonics Area. Additionally, Dou has authored and presented several research presentations at AIChE Annual Meetings.
