Two ChE faculty recognized for excellence in teaching

Two Davidson School of Chemical Engineering faculty were recently recognized for their excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Rakesh Agrawal, the Winthrop E. Stone Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, and Dr. Stephen Beaudoin, Professor of Chemical Engineering, were honored at the September 24, 2019 graduate seminar.

Two Davidson School of Chemical Engineering faculty were recently recognized for their excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Rakesh Agrawal and Dr. Stephen Beaudoin were honored by the School at the September 24, 2019 graduate seminar.

Dr. Rakesh Agrawal, Winthrop E. Stone Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering, received the Phillip C. Wankat Graduate Teaching Award in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Agrawal was chosen by Chemical Engineering graduate students who have taken graduate-level courses, including Professional Master’s Program enrollees.
 
Established in 2016 by the Chemical Engineering faculty, the Wankat Award honors the outstanding teaching contributions by Phillip C. Wankat, the Lovell Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Wankat was a part of the Purdue Chemical Engineering faculty for 47 years, and also served as Director of Undergraduate Degree Programs in Engineering Education.
 
Dr. Stephen Beaudoin, Professor of Chemical Engineering, received the 2019 Shreve Award for Outstanding Teaching in Chemical Engineering, based on selection by Chemical Engineering seniors.
 
The Shreve Award was established in 1960 by R. Norris Shreve, Professor of Chemical Engineering, and Eleanor B. Shreve to recognize outstanding teaching by a faculty member. Dr. Shreve was a distinguished member of the School’s faculty from 1930 through 1955, and served as Head from 1947 to 1951.
