The School’s Chemical Engineers for Safety Seminars (ChESS) Program has earned the Purdue Presidential Safety Award for efforts to implement innovative methods to increase the safety awareness in our School. The award will be presented during the Annual Safety Chair Meeting on March 2, 2016.

The Purdue Presidential Safety Award was established in 2013 and annually recognizes staff who demonstrate leadership and commitment to safety at Purdue University. This marks the third year in a row when a ChE program or employee has received the award.

This year’s recipient, ChESS, is a graduate student-led safety education program started in 2013. The current leadership team includes four graduate students, currently Robert Boyne, Rohit Jaini, Ravi Joshi and Mark Koeper, and the ChE Safety Committee Chair, Dr. Gabriela Nagy.

The ChESS team was nominated for the award based on their hard work and efforts in increasing safety awareness within the School of Chemical Engineering (ChE) community.

Previous Chemical Engineering winners include the ChE Safety Committee (2014) and Viktor Cybulskis, graduate student in Professor Fabio Ribeiro’s group (2015.)
