Three Purdue Chemical Engineering undergraduates will be honored by the AIChE during its annual meeting in November.

AIChE selected senior Austin Tackaberry for the 2014 John J. McKetta Undergraduate Scholarship Award. The prize consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $5,000; this is the largest financial undergraduate award given by AIChE nationally. Tackaberry, originally from Roscoe, Illinois, has been serving as the Chair of the Overall AIChE Executive Student Committee (ESC) since May 2014. He was elected in November at the 2013 AIChE Annual Student Conference and will oversee more than 200 student chapters spanning 20 countries.

AIChE also selected senior Haefa Mansour for the 2014 Donald F. & Mildred Topp Othmer Scholarship Award. This prize includes a certificate and a check in the amount of $1,000.

In addition to choosing two Purdue students for the senior awards, the AIChE chose another Purdue student, Junior Beata Struble, for the 2013-2014 Donald F. Othmer Sophomore Academic Excellence Award. This award includes a certificate and complimentary registration to the annual AIChE meeting and a travel allowance.

All three students will be recognized at the AIChE Student Award Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, as part of the 2014 annual AIChE meeting which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
